Fetal Doppler is a critical medical device used to monitor fetal heart rate and ensure the well-being of the fetus during pregnancy. However, its effectiveness greatly depends on the users' knowledge and skills, particularly among midwives and health workers at Community Health Centers (Puskesmas). The activity involved structured training sessions combining theoretical explanations and practical demonstrations, aiming to enhance participants’ understanding of safe device operation, routine maintenance procedures, and early detection of equipment malfunctions. The results showed increased competency among participants in both operating the device and performing basic troubleshooting. This initiative not only supports the continuity of quality antenatal care but also strengthens local health capacity in the effort to reduce maternal and infant morbidity and mortality. Continuous follow-up and evaluation are recommended to sustain the impact of the program.
Muhammad Ridha Makruf; Andjar Pudji Copyright (c) 2025 Muhammad Ridha Makruf; Andjar Pudji https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/113 Sun, 28 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Implementation of Telemedicine-Based Baby Incubator Technology to Reduce Premature Infant Mortality Rates at Taman Health Center in Sidoarjo https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/109
Puskesmas in Sidoarjo Regency do not yet have facilities for monitoring LBW in real time via
android either by health workers at the health centre or the patient's family. Puskesmas Taman serves
communities spread across several villages with a coverage area spread across several villages. This is an
obstacle for families to get access to monitor the patient's progress, because the patient is in the NICU or ICU
room. Another thing is that there is no training for users in the use of telemedicine-based Baby Incubator
equipment. The role of users and families of patients is very important to keep the equipment in good
condition. However, operating trainings based on new technology for users have never been conducted.
Efforts to solve the above problems are to carry out counselling and assistance in the use of baby incubator
equipment to users including nurses, midwives and other non-health worker users, so as to increase the
knowledge of officers or users which in turn will have an impact on increasing the productivity of officers or
users and improving the quality of service at the health centre. The local economy, primarily based on seafood processing, particularly kupang products, faced limited market reach due to traditional marketing methods. Consequently, this initiative sought to empower local Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) by introducing digital marketing strategies, utilizing platforms like TikTok and e-commerce sites such as Tokopedia, Bukalapak, and Shopee. Additionally, a digital information portal was developed to centralize information regarding village activities, health services, and business opportunities.

The program’s methodology included workshops and seminars on digital marketing, e-commerce, and information systems, followed by hands-on sessions for creating digital content and managing online transactions. The implementation began with training MSMEs on digital tools and website development, while also providing technical support for local entrepreneurs to establish online presences. A participatory approach was adopted, ensuring that the community was actively involved throughout the process.

The results of the program were positive, with participants demonstrating significant improvements in digital marketing skills and the successful establishment of e-commerce platforms. Furthermore, the village’s information portal was launched, providing residents and outsiders with vital community updates. The program concluded with evaluations that showed increased awareness and adoption of digital tools, thereby enhancing MSME competitiveness and community welfare.

In conclusion, the initiative proved effective in empowering Desa Balongdowo’s community by improving digital marketing capabilities and establishing a digital information system. The health problems faced by this village include the high rate of stunting and the increasing prevalence of NCDs, such as diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and obesity. This activity involves active community participation through balanced nutrition counseling, health checks, and capacity building for posyandu cadres and local health workers. The results of the activity showed a decrease in the prevalence of stunting, an increase in public knowledge about stunting prevention and NCDs, and success in early detection through hemoglobin (Hb) and blood sugar (GDS) examinations. The program has also succeeded in strengthening cross-sector networks and creating greater awareness of the importance of healthy living behaviors at the village level. It is hoped that this activity can be sustainable and have a long-term positive impact on public health in Ngiliran Village.

Hery Sumasto, Nurwening Tyas Wisnu, Triana Septianti , Mulyananda Dwi Mentari, Sulikah Copyright (c) 2025 Hery Sumasto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/107 Mon, 22 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Sustainable Community Assistance for a Healthy, Responsive, and Disaster-Resilient Tourism Village (Case Study: Sawahan Village, Watulimo District, Trenggalek Regency) https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/124
Sawahan Village, located in Watulimo District, Trenggalek Regency, is a durian forest tourism area with great potential to be developed as a healthy tourism village. However, the community still faces challenges due to limited knowledge and skills in disaster preparedness and health crisis management. This community service program applied three simultaneous approaches: Communication, Information, and Education (CIE) related to Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) in households; assistance in tourism village governance, including administration, financial management, and tourism object development; as well as capacity building for disaster preparedness and resilience. The academic outputs of this program include activity documentation videos and leaflets with Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), a learning module on disaster-resilient tourism villages, and an article submitted to an international journal. Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) revealed that Sawahan Village has strong tourism potential in durian and clove plantations but requires improved facilities and infrastructure. The FGDs and mentoring activities successfully enhanced the competencies of village tourism managers in administration and development, increased community knowledge and skills in PHBS, and strengthened disaster preparedness and health crisis management capacities. Prior to the FGDs, only a small portion of the community understood the importance of tourism village management and healthy living behavior. After the intervention, significant improvements were observed, such as the increase in disaster knowledge from 10% to 84%. This indicates that community service programs can effectively empower rural communities to establish sustainable, healthy, and disaster-resilient tourism villages.
Khambali Khambali, Rachmaniyah Rachmaniyah, Fitri Rokhmalia, Yessy Dessy Arna Copyright (c) 2025 Khambali, Rachmaniyah, Fitri Rokhmalia, Yessy Dessy Arna https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/124 Mon, 22 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Community-Based Intervention through Posyandu Cadre Training and Assistance for Mothers Under Five to Reduce Stunting in Genaharjo Village, Tuban https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/119
Nutrition problems are still a major public health challenge, especially stunting which has a long-term impact on child growth and development. Based on the 2022 report of the TubanRegency Health Office, the prevalence of stunting in the work area of the Kawa Health Center reached 24.43%. Genaharjo Village is the focus of attention because the number of stunted toddlers has increased from 40 children (2023) to 45 children (14%) in 2024, while 66.7% of pregnant women are at high risk of experiencing Chronic Energy Deficiency (CED). This condition shows the need for intervention to support the achievement of the national target of reducing stunting by 14%. This Community Service aims to evaluate pre-post changes in the knowledge of cadres and mothers of toddlers, anthropometric skills of cadres and the processing of toddler menus by mothers after a two-session intervention in Genaharjo". The activity was carried out in August-September 2025 with evaluation through pre-test and post-test for knowledge, observation of cadre skills, assessment of mothers' ability in food processing, and urine examination of toddlers using the pyridinium crosslink rapid test. The results showed an increase in cadre knowledge from an average of 9.25 to 11.25 and mothers of toddlers from 9.6 to 11.1. Cadres are able to perform anthropometric measurements correctly, while mothers of toddlers are skilled in planning menus and processing 20 nutritious recipes based on local ingredients. Of the 20 urine samples of stunted toddlers, two showed positive results. This intervention is effective in increasing community capacity, but a comprehensive approach is needed including nutrition education, health monitoring, and sanitation improvement for the sustainability of stunting prevention.
Teresia Retna Puspitadewi, Juliana Christyaningsih, Nurul Hindaryani, Yasin Wahyurianto Copyright (c) 2025 Teresia Retna Puspitadewi,S.Kep,Ns,M.Kes, Roudlotul Jannah, Juliana Christyaningsih, Nurul Hindaryani, Yasin Wahyurianto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/119 Sun, 28 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Empowering Cadres to Increase Parental Awareness of Tuberculosis (TB) in children Prevention in Pacarkembang District, Surabaya https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/111
ABSTRACT. The working area of Pacarkeling Health Center includes Pacarkeling and Pacarkembang villages, Surabaya. The development of health promotion activities at the health center largely involves active community participation through health cadres. Tuberculosis (TB) in children cases in Surabaya remain high, influenced by behavioral and environmental factors. TB is not limited to adults but also affects children, thus requiring comprehensive understanding of the disease, its signs and symptoms, treatment, and prevention. The objectives of this community service program are to assess the understanding of cadres regarding Tuberculosis (TB) in children, assess their knowledge of Tuberculosis (TB) in children prevention; and evaluate their awareness and involvement in counseling and educational activities related to Tuberculosis (TB) in children prevention. The targets and outcomes of the community service program were successfully achieved. The mandatory output for the PKM (Community Service Program) scheme included an increase in cadres’ understanding of Tuberculosis (TB) in children and its prevention at the "good" level—from 90% to 93.3% among 30 cadres. Additionally, among 30 parents, there was an increase in the "sufficient" category of understanding regarding assistance, cadres’ concern in counseling, and the prevention of Tuberculosis (TB) in children —from 13.3% to 20%. As for the publication output, a manuscript was prepared and submitted to the FISCE Journal. In addition, a video documenting the implementation of the activities was uploaded to YouTube and can be accessed via the following link: https://youtu.be/uP537MD5Gcg. The additional outputs included a booklet titled Parental Awareness of Tuberculosis Prevention in School-Aged Children, as well as supporting documentation such as a certificate (ECOO2025113694), a community service activity video, and a copyright certificate (EC002025123468) for a work titled Parental Awareness of Tuberculosis Prevention.
indriatie indriatie, Aida Novitasari, Nur Hasanah Copyright (c) 2025 indriatie indriatie https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/111 Mon, 22 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 Community Empowerment on Recognizing the Risk of Diabetic Complications Through Self-Assessment https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/108
Diabetes can cause complications in many parts of the body and can increase the risk of death. This community service activity aims to educate the community through community empowerment to prevent complications that may develop using self-assessment. Posyandu cadres as the frontline of health services at the community level have a strategic role in efforts to prevent and detect NCDs. However, the limited competence and capacity of cadres are often obstacles in optimizing these roles. This community service activity aims to strengthen the role of Posyandu Cadres through increasing competence in the prevention of NCDs in Gonggang Village, Poncol District, Magetan Regency. The method of community service activities is carried out with a participatory approach through training, mentoring, and field practice for Posyandu cadres. The material includes education on risk factors for NCDs, promotion of Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS), as well as early detection skills and monitoring of citizens' health. The evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test knowledge, observation of cadre practices, and feedback from the community. The results of this activity show a significant increase in the knowledge and skills of cadres in recognizing NCD risk factors and conducting health education to the community. Cadres are also able to initiate promotive-preventive activities at the Posyandu, such as healthy lifestyle campaigns, blood pressure measurement, and simple blood sugar monitoring. The support of the community and the village government also strengthens the sustainability of the program. The conclusion of this activity is that strengthening the role of Posyandu Cadres through increasing competence has proven to be effective in supporting the prevention of NCDs at the community level. This model has the potential to be replicated in other regions to support the transformation of primary healthcare
Hery Sumasto, Astuti Setiyani, Nurwening Tyas Wisnu, Mulyananda Dwi Mentari, Suhermin Copyright (c) 2025 Hery Sumasto https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/106 Mon, 22 Dec 2025 00:00:00 +0700 A Community-Based Education on the Use of Medicinal Plants for Diabetes Mellitus Management among Elderly Participants at Posyandu Lansia Sadewo, Jati Village, Sidoarjo https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/121
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that requires lifelong management and often encourages patients to explore complementary therapies. Herbal remedies are frequently used alongside medical treatment, though in some cases patients reduce or discontinue prescribed medications. Limited knowledge of proper self-care and the integration of herbal therapies contributes to poor adherence and increases the risk of complications. This community service program aimed to enhance knowledge among health cadres and community members regarding the use of family medicinal plants (TOGA) as complementary therapy to support blood glucose control. The activity was conducted in RT 26 RW 06, Pondok Jati, Jati Village, Sidoarjo, focusing on communities affected by non-communicable diseases, particularly diabetes. Interventions included structured educational sessions, distribution of an educational module, and live demonstrations of herbal preparation. Effectiveness was evaluated through pre- and post-test questionnaires, assessment of program implementation, and follow-up planning. Results showed a 65% increase in participants’ knowledge of TOGA utilization for diabetes management. The coaching approach, which emphasized empowerment, emotional support, and healthy dietary practices, further demonstrated its value as a strategy for community-based diabetes prevention and management. In conclusion, integrating herbal education into community programs can substantially improve knowledge and promote complementary practices, while coaching-based interventions strengthen empowerment and encourage sustainable behavioral change.
Aida Novitasari, S.Kep.Ns.M.Kep., Irfany Nurul Hamid, S.ST.M.Tr.Kep., Dr. Anita Joeliantina, S.Kep.Ns.M.Kes.
