Intellectual disability and delay in children are often not identified early on due to limited public knowledge and the non-optimal use of digital technology in screening activities. This condition can hinder the provision of timely intervention and have an impact on the quality of children's growth and development. This community service activity aims to increase the capacity of health workers, Posyandu cadres, playgroup development cadres, pregnant women, and mothers under five through training on the Application of Early Detection of Blindness and Intellectual Retardation of Children to Increase Public Health Resilience through an Interprofessional Approach to Education. The methods used included counseling, demonstration of application use, hands-on practice, and post-training evaluation using questionnaires of 60 participants. The evaluation covers six aspects, namely system quality, ease of use, application benefits, user satisfaction, interpersonal support, and intent to use. The results showed that the majority of participants gave a very good assessment of all aspects evaluated. The application is considered to have an attractive appearance, easy to learn and operate, able to increase the effectiveness of early detection, support follow-up decision-making, strengthen communication and collaboration between professions, and obtain a high level of satisfaction and intention to use. Most of the participants also expressed a willingness to continue using and recommending the app to other users. These findings show that Dedinataniel is a digital innovation that is feasible to be applied in community-based health services to support early detection of childhood blindness and intellectual retardation. Wider implementation accompanied by ongoing training has the potential to increase screening coverage, accelerate interventions, and improve the quality of children's health services.
2026-09-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Hery Sumasto https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/150 Training on The Operation And Maintenance Of Ultrasonography (USG) Equipment For Healthcare Workers to Improve Diagnostic Services at Community Health Centers in South Krembangan Surabaya 2026-08-13T11:20:48+07:00 Muhammad Ridha Makruf ridha@poltekkesdepkes-sby.ac.id Andjar Pudji andjar@poltekkes-surabaya.ac.id Priyambada Cahya Nugraha pcn1967@poltekkesdepkes-sby.ac.id I Dewa Gede Hariwisana dewa@poltekkes-surabaya.ac.id
Ultrasonography (USG) is one of the most widely used diagnostic imaging modalities because it is non-invasive, free from ionizing radiation, relatively affordable, and capable of providing real-time anatomical information. In primary healthcare facilities (Puskesmas), USG has become increasingly important, particularly for maternal health services, abdominal examinations, and early disease screening. However, many healthcare workers have limited competence in operating USG equipment and performing routine maintenance, resulting in suboptimal utilization of available equipment. This community service program aimed to improve the knowledge and practical skills of healthcare workers regarding the proper operation and preventive maintenance of Ultrasonography (USG) equipment. The activity employed an educational-participatory approach consisting of lectures, demonstrations, hands-on practice, discussions, and evaluations using a one-group pretest-posttest design. Fifteen healthcare workers, including general practitioners, midwives, nurses, and electromedical technicians, participated in the training. The average knowledge score increased from 61.8 during the pretest to 90.7 after the training, representing a 46.8% improvement. Practical competency evaluation showed that 80% of participants reached the "Excellent" category, while the remaining 20% were classified as "Good." Participants expressed high satisfaction with both the theoretical and practical components of the training. The training significantly improved participants' competence in operating and maintaining USG equipment, thereby supporting the enhancement of diagnostic services at primary healthcare facilities.
2026-09-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Muhammad Ridha Makruf; Andjar Pudji, Priyambada Cahya Nugraha, I Dewa Gede Hariwisana https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/152 Empowering Partner Villages in Preventing Early Marriage as a Sustainable Effort to Prevent Stunting through the Healthy and Decent Housing Program (RUSELA) 2026-08-13T12:20:50+07:00 Nurlailis Saadah nurlailis.saadah66@gmail.com Sulikah Sulikah ikahsulikah3@gmail.com Aries Prasetya arewinderika@gmail.com Budi Yulianto budyul.by@gmail.com Uswatun Khasanah yusa_0510@yahoo.com
Early marriage is a contributing factor to the increased risk of stunting through teenage pregnancy, low reproductive readiness, and limited knowledge in child care and nutrition. These issues require a sustainable community empowerment approach involving various stakeholders at the village level. This community service activity aims to empower partner villages to prevent early marriage as a sustainable effort to prevent stunting through the Healthy and Decent Homes Program (RUSELA). Implementation methods include outreach and education on adolescent reproductive health, maturing marriage age, stunting prevention, training on the application of healthy and decent home indicators, and mentoring for adolescents, families, and health cadres. Evaluation was conducted using pretests and posttests on 38 respondents, accompanied by observation and monitoring of community participation. The evaluation results showed an increase in the average knowledge score of participants from 61.8 in the pretest to 86.5 in the posttest, an increase of 40.0%. A total of 34 respondents (89.5%) experienced an increase in knowledge scores after participating in the activity. In addition, there was an increase in understanding of the risks of early marriage, the importance of preventing stunting from adolescence, and community awareness of creating a healthy and decent home environment to support child growth and development. This program also resulted in a joint commitment between the village government, cadres, and the community to integrate the RUSELA Program into village development activities as a sustainable community empowerment model to support the acceleration of stunting reduction.
2026-09-30T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Nurlailis Saadah, Sulikah Sulikah, Aries Prasetya, Budi Yulianto, Uswatun Khasanah https://www.ficse.ijahst.org/index.php/ficse/article/view/154 Community Movement Assistance to Prevent Stunting in Wonoayu Village, Sidoarjo 2026-08-13T12:23:06+07:00 Sherly sherlyjeniawaty@gmail.com Yuni Ginarsih bedjoutomo123@gmail.com Sukesi bedjoutomo123@gmail.com
Stunting refers to a condition where a child’s height is shorter than the average height for their age, caused by prolonged nutritional deficiencies during the first 1,000 days of life. In adulthood, children who experience stunting are vulnerable to non-communicable diseases such as heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and kidney failure, as well as a potential reduction in intelligence levels by 5–11 points. In addition to nutritional factors, stunting is also caused by a lack of knowledge among the community, particularly pregnant adolescents, mothers of toddlers, and posyandu cadres. According to available data, stunting cases in Sidoarjo Regency increased by 1.3 percent. Previously, there was also an increase in 2022, reaching 16.1 percent. Based on primary data from SMD 2023 in Wonoayu Village, it was reported that out of 1,230 households, 11 out of 261 infants, toddlers, and preschool children were found to be stunted, with the majority categorized as short stature (81.8%).This community empowerment program aims to improve the knowledge of adolescents, posyandu cadres, and the community through health promotion accompanied by the Community Movement to Prevent Stunting in Wonoayu Village, Sidoarjo. The program consisted of counseling sessions targeting pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, mothers of toddlers, and women of reproductive age.
